Broken Glass by Jessica Bates

Our world is broken.

Our hearts are broken.

We know how we are viewed and where we stand in this world.

Yet we continue to persevere, to take things day by day seeing progress and recession.

Smiling in the face of our oppression.

We are broken.

Our minds, bodies, souls, spirits are broken.

Our tears go unseen, cries gone unheard, and murders ignored.

You hear us now because YOUR space, comfortability, and world show glimpses of our daily lives.

You see broken windows and still refuse to see broken people.

We will be seen.

We will be heard.

We will go on.
